I have just ended my weekend looking at hundreds of faces from all over the globe. This sounds funny! 🙂 It’s not what you think about. I have read a book that contains hundreds of moments from childhood, with children from all over the world. This book made me realize that, in many parts of the world, the earliest years of life are accompanied by pain, hunger, desperation, sickness.
Studies and not only show us that the first five years of a child’s life are the base for his/her entire life. They are the foundation that shapes children’s future health, happiness, growth, values and beliefs, development and learning success at school, in the family and in life in general.
Reading about this issue of poverty around the globe, I discovered that most common problems of these children are related to hygiene, education, food and health. In some cases, the children and their families do not have access to a good health or educational system, in other cases they cannot afford it.
This article reminds me about my experience with Teach for Romania, a true life lesson for me. You can read more about it here. Also, as the book did through its pages, I actually want to dedicate this article to these less fortunate children with the hope that, through these lines, the reader will not forget the real-life situations behind the images.
Below you can find a collection of “babies around the world”. These images express their strength, but also their fragility, genuine expressions of surprise, delight, stubbornness or anger. Enjoy!
